A Typical Franchisee the First Few Months
Our typical franchisee (we’ll call him Conor) has already decided The Ultimate Floor Sanding Company™ is the right thing for him by visiting the web site (www.ultimatefloorsanding.com), and reading the Mini Prospectus.
He then decides to phone the contact number from the website (1890 252 383) to find out more details. The ‘Franchise Advisor’ was happy to send further information to Conor and made an appointment to have a discussion over the phone with the ‘Franchise Recruitment Manager’.
As scheduled he receives a call from the ‘Franchise Recruitment Manager’ who speaks to him in detail about the franchise concept and assesses Conor’s suitability.
Conor demonstrates his credentials. He is fit and healthy, communicates well, has understanding of giving exceptional customer care
And most importantly…
He has the drive, desire, and ambition to build his own successful franchise
He is then invited to meet Paul Spiller (the Franchise Support Director). During the morning Conor sees that the support infrastructure is exactly what he needs, and is impressed by the level of franchisor input.
He demonstrates his suitability by asking relevant questions and his enthusiasm and commitment to be the best is unwavering. A mutual decision is reached between Conor and Paul, and Conor is invited to take up a franchise.
Conor has already been advised of due diligence investigations prior to the meeting with Paul, and sets about completing his research in greater detail. His circumstances mean that he has four weeks before the next available training course so he plans his time to cover his investigations.
He also completes a Business Plan, which is subsequently checked by the Franchise Recruitment Manager. With his Business Plan all in order, he makes his approaches to his chosen lenders and our recommended lenders, and secures an agreement in principle.
With a few weeks to go before the training, Conor sets his home office up. The Family already have a PC and printer, so he has a head start, but he orders a broadband internet connection, so that everything is a bit quicker than his dial up modem.
The first day of training finally arrives and Conor is excited albeit a little apprehensive.
He benefits from the mix of personalities on the course and as each day passes his confidence grows and grows. He knows he’s made the right decision.
At the end of the course Conor is feeling fully equipped and totally committed to starting his franchise.
Conor then spends a relaxing weekend with his family eagerly awaiting the first day of his new business.
On Monday he starts to follow his business launch marketing plan, he also talks to The Franchise Support Director, who advises him of the schedule of activities being set up by head office.
Later in that first week, Conor receives a text from the National Call Centre – the first new lead has called in! He calls the potential customer and agrees a time to pop around and give a quote.
At Mrs Cleary’s house (the customer) he parks the sign written van and calls at the door. He is a bit nervous on this first quotation, but draws reassurance from his professional appearance in company uniform and from the sales documentation he has with him.
Conor needn’t have worried – by following the processes that were covered in his training, he left the customer reassured of his professionalism AND he had a date in the diary for his first job.
Returning to Mrs Cleary’s a few days later, Conor is happy to know that one of the franchisor field support team has come down to help him on his first job. Though as he starts work, he finds that the training given really starts to kick in.
Soon his first job is complete. The hours flew by, he was concentrating so much. But it was all worth it, the finished floor looks fantastic and Mrs Cleary is “over the moon”.
He returns home and enters the job details into his internet accounts system. €600 from this job- great! He only has to do one job each week and he has already more than covered his business expenses and loan repayments!
Over the next few weeks the number of jobs start to increase as a result of both his own local marketing and the centrally organised Launch Marketing Package. What Conor is most happy about is that Mrs Cleary (his first customer) was so delighted with his work, she told 2 of her friends about it and they also became customers!
A fantastic first few weeks!
Conor’s delighted, he is well on the way to a successful franchise operation, and even happier to see a positive cash flow so quickly.
The next few months sees Conor’s business growing week by week. He is amazed to see that by following the franchise procedures and most importantly delivering a fantastic floor finish and service every time how many jobs he is getting out of referrals from previous happy customers.
With his confidence growing he has even taken on his first commercial contract, a small pub in the town centre. This is very profitable and what a great advert for his business!
